At the end of May, ID06 launched its new customer portal, MittID06. One of the new features is the digital ID—a function that allows those waiting for their physical ID06 card to get started at work right away. We spoke with the construction company Brixly about what this means in practice.
As soon as a card order is approved, the cardholder gains access to a digital certificate in MittID06. The certificate appears as a QR code on the cardholder’s phone, which the supervisor at the workplace scans upon entry—serving as confirmation that all checks have been completed. Once the physical card is delivered, the cardholder activates it and begins using the card.
Erik Martin is a site manager at Brixly and has been leading construction projects since 2012. Here, he talks about how the wait for the ID06 card is affecting work on site.
What role does the ID06 check play in your daily life?
– When you clock in, you log in to our system and verify that your card is valid. More and more often, the system also shows which training courses you’ve completed, such as Safe Construction—it’s convenient and well-received. Then you clock in and out when you arrive at and leave the worksite.
What was it like in the past, before digital credentials existed, when someone needed to gain quick access to a workplace?
– Once the card has been ordered, the person usually wants to get to the job site right away. If there’s a delay in delivering the card, the person has to wait, and that affects both the project and the employee. The impact is felt in the schedule, and since everyone on a construction project depends on each other, a delay spreads quickly. Staying on schedule is the be-all and end-all of a construction project.
How important is it to you to know that ID06 has performed all necessary checks before an employee arrives at the workplace?
– That’s obviously very important, and I feel reassured knowing that once a short order is confirmed, all the necessary checks have been carried out.
The company has recently begun incorporating digital evidence into its procedures. Markus Brink, CEO of Brixly, explains here what this means for the business.
Are you able to accommodate people who present digital proof of vaccination at your workplaces?
– Yes, we are very enthusiastic about the possibility of using digital proof of identity. It will greatly simplify the process for people who want to start working while they wait for their physical card. Information on how the new procedure works has just been sent out to our employees.
How do you think digital evidence will affect your business?
– It makes a difference. Sometimes we need to hire people on short notice, and with digital proof, we can resolve those issues much more quickly.
Both Erik Martin and Markus Brink keep coming back to the same point: that more people should be able to get started as soon as the checks are complete and approved. For Markus Brink, digital proof is an example of something he would like to see more of.
“This is how the industry can best ensure order and efficiency. The digitalization enabled by the ID06 card has made things incredibly easier for us, and we’re pleased that ID06 continues to innovate and listen to its customers and partners,” says Markus Brink.
