January 28, 2026 is fast approaching, when new security requirements will be introduced for ID06 cards.

We are now facing a significant change to the ID06 system. Starting January 28, a new security requirement will be introduced for ordering ID06 cards, requiring cardholders to verify their identity and approve their card order using a passport or national ID card that is valid as a travel document within the EU.

This requirement ensures that everyone who orders a new ID06 card on or after January 28 will have their citizenship verified, in accordance with the ID06 regulations, which are based on the right to work in Sweden.

Here's how to do it:

To make the process as simple as possible, we have created step-by-step instructions tailored to your citizenship. Select the option that applies to you:

Swedish citizen

EU/EEA citizens

Verified coordination number/registered in the Swedish Population Register, citizen of another country

Third country – Third-country national

The new requirement enhances security and contributes to greater safety and transparency in Swedish workplaces. At the same time, the ordering process becomes clearer and more secure for both companies and cardholders—an important step that strengthens trust throughout the industry.
