Waade AB is a civil engineering consulting firm that operates daily in environments where order, safety, and regulatory compliance are integral to its work. In their role as client representatives, employees frequently visit construction sites—places where ID06 cards are a requirement and a natural part of everyday life.
“We primarily work as project managers, design managers, and construction managers. In those roles, we’re often out on construction sites where an ID06 is required,” says Johan Engström, project manager at Waade AB.
Since Waade rarely works on the contractor side or with temporary staff, the management of ID06 is relatively limited—but nonetheless important.
“We’ve now ordered ID06 cards using the new process, and it’s gone very smoothly. It’s basically our only interaction with ID06 on a day-to-day basis,” says Johan.
A reasonable step toward greater safety
When news of the new requirement to verify identity using a passport or national ID card reached Waade, the reaction was largely positive.
“It makes sense and is a good idea to enhance the security of ID06 cards and ensure identity verification and confirmed citizenship,” Johan notes.
There were no major concerns ahead of the implementation, although some doubts did manage to creep in.
“Perhaps people wondered if it would feel awkward or cumbersome for the employees,” he says, adding:
“But that doesn’t seem to have been the case.”
Friction-free in practice
Once the validation was carried out, it turned out to be much simpler than expected.
“It’s frictionless,” Johan sums up briefly.
He explains:
– I haven’t had any negative experiences at all when it comes to clarity, user-friendliness, or time spent.
Nor was there anything surprising about the implementation—neither positive nor negative. The process simply worked as intended.
An essential part of being a responsible employer
From an employer’s perspective, the new validation process effectively adds an extra step when ordering new ID06 cards. A step that Waade is happy to take.
“All of our employees have passports and mobile BankID, so for us, it’s really just one more step. If it can help make the industry safer and healthier, we’re happy to do it,” says Johan.
He emphasizes that the enhanced validation also contributes to greater safety in the workplace.
“It improves security and gives people peace of mind knowing that those present at the workplace are actually authorized to be there and work in the country,” he explains.
Equal opportunities – a fundamental requirement
For Waade, fair competition is a crucial issue.
“It’s very important. Ultimately, it benefits the entire industry—and society as a whole,” says Johan.
At the same time, customers take it for granted that we use ID06 and comply with laws and regulations.
“That’s a basic requirement. That’s how it should be,” he notes.
At the same time, he sees that ID06, combined with the new validation process, can serve as a clear competitive advantage in the industry—especially in discussions with customers and during the procurement process.
“By using ID06 with verified identity, you demonstrate that you take responsibility for who is on the job site. This reduces the risk of false identities, unscrupulous actors, and workplace crime—something many clients actively want to avoid,” he says.
He continues:
– In procurement, it’s not enough to simply check off a requirement; you also need to demonstrate that you’re at the forefront of compliance, oversight, and security.
ID06 thus serves as concrete evidence in customer communications.
“We have full control over who works for us and at our workplaces,” says Johan.
Looking ahead
In the long term, he hopes that the change will help make the industry safer, with less room for abuse.
And to the companies that have not yet completed the new validation process, he sends a reassuring message:
“They won’t find it burdensome. If you’re a serious player, you’ll ultimately see it as a positive thing,” he says.
So how does he sum up his entire experience in a single sentence?
“It’s easier than I thought it would be,” Johan concludes.
