Verify your identity

We verify both businesses and individuals when you create an account with us. This ensures a high level of security for the ID06 card.

Please present your passport or national ID card

Effective January 28, 2026, stricter security requirements apply when ordering an ID06 card. To complete your order, you must verify your identity using a passport or a national ID card that is valid as a travel document within the EU.

Why a passport or national ID card?

The reason is simple—these documents contain information about citizenship, which is crucial because the right to work in Sweden is based precisely on citizenship or a work permit. Citizenship also determines how long an ID06 card is valid.

Here's how it works:

  • Swedish citizen – the card is valid for 5 years
  • Citizens of a European country who pay taxes in their home country – the card is valid for 6 months
  • Citizens from a country outside the EU – the card is valid for 3 months

Depending on your country of citizenship and the country where your business is registered, different validity periods may apply.

This requirement ensures that the correct regulations are applied, that identities are verified, and that workplaces where ID06 is used maintain a high level of security and control.

Verification of personal identification numbers and coordination numbers

Verification of Coordination Numbers or Personal Identification Numbers
On February 9, we launched a feature for automatically verifying personal identification numbers and coordination numbers against the SPAR database for non-Swedish citizens. Here is more information about how the feature works and what you need to know – click here

Do you have a coordination number?
You can use Freja eID to confirm an ID06 card order.
Note:Do not enter your coordination number in the Freja app. You should only register a passport or national ID card. Once that’s done, you can approve your ID06 card order.

Manual scanning – for a fee
Can’t use eID? Visit a scanning office. Select a scanning office on the map and book an appointment for scanning and registration.

Accepted passports and ID documents
Here you can view a list of passports and ID documents that are accepted for scanning. Then select a scanning office on the map and book an appointment with them for scanning and registration. View the list of accepted passports and ID documents
